We love Jesus, God’s Word, and one another. We’re bringing Jesus’ revolutionary message of grace, truth, and compassion to the Silicon Valley and to the world. If you’re new to Abundant Life, here’s some basics about what we’re committed to and what drives us every day.
OUR BEHAVIORS
I love being a Pastor and I love being a Pastor at Abundant Life. My wife and I have spent 30 years with this church family. I’d say we’re attached! I love being Pastor, but I love being a family man even more.

After 30 years of marriage to Sandra, it only gets better and better. She’s a successful audiologist by day and dances a mean West Coast Swing when we grace the ballroom together after hours.
My daughter Laura and her husband Anthony are Youth Pastors living the dream in San Ramon. They are my joy. My son and partner, Erik, graduated from Southwestern Assembly of God University. Without a doubt the fruit of his ministry will leave his old man in the rear view mirror. And Audrey, our creative beauty, who loves art, music, and especially Jesus, is completing college at Vanguard University of Southern California. She’s blossoming as a leader on campus and delighting us as she grows.
Here are a few insights into my passions and quirks:
God can use anyone—even a mechanical engineer turned worship pastor on Sundays. I love music.
God can use anyone – even a mechanical engineer turned worship pastor on Sundays. I love music. I played clarinet and sax from grade school through high school, but felt that would be the end once I went to college to focus on my studies. But God planted visions of leading worship even at that time, although it seemed way too far from reality.
I really believed my passion for music would be limited to what I played through the stereo. I am thankful that God has so much more in store for us than we realize. In 2001, I picked up a guitar and never looked back. By 2004 the Lord had me leading our worship team at Abundant Life where He transformed my simple interest into a life-giving passion. Amazing!
My greatest support team is my wife Melissa, and my two awesome kids. I’m currently coaching my daughter’s soccer team and enjoy playing golf with my son. And lately, I’ve been upping my culinary skills, so watch out Bobby Flay!
Call me the homegrown type. In 1989, before I became a pastor, and before Abundant Life got its name, I walked into a Sunday service and accepted Christ as my Savior—made to order.
Call me the homegrown type. In 1989, before I became a pastor, and before Abundant Life got its name, I walked into a Sunday service and accepted Christ as my Savior—made to order. To make the order complete, it wasn’t long before I met my lovely wife and for 25+ years we’ve been players here. We’ve played almost every ministry position there is to play and it’s been a privilege and joy!
When I’m not wrestling down Bible hermeneutics, I’ve been seen skydiving, white water rafting and bungee jumping over the Nile—all done with prayer, of course. My passions? Trips to East Africa, an ongoing fantasy of being a pro-soccer coach, and watching The Princess Bride over and over.
She moved to the Bay Area in 2002 to begin full-time ministry and later received her master degree at Western Seminary in Equipping and Evangelism. Her background is in youth ministry, developing and equipping students to be leaders at a young age.
Angela Chang was born in Taiwan and raised in Florida. She graduated from the University of Florida with a dual degree in Piano Performance and Nutrition Science specializing in Dietetics.

With more than 12 years of experience in the mega-church youth ministry setting, she is passionate about equipping healthy and vibrant families. Angela is married to Jonathan, an engineer here in the South Bay, and has two children, Gabriel 10 and Elisa 7.
Before working at the church full-time, I spent 10+ years in childcare at the YMCA. I guess I’ve always had a passion for developing and serving people. Whether it’s fun & games or simply having a heartfelt conversation over coffee.
I’m a homegrown guy. I’ve been a part of Abundant Life since I was 10 years old – growing up in the ministries and learning the value of serving in them.

I believe the key to successful generational ministry is not to segregate children from youth to young adults, but to see the stages of life streaming together. Each generation should look forward and learning the truth from the generation ahead. At the same time, they should reach back to teach the generation behind them. That’s generational discipleship!
I’m a blessed man to be married to my best friend, Faith. She’s an amazing woman who loves God and loves people. As a professionally trained ballerina she invests her gifts in young people, teaching them how to glorify and worship God through dance.
We’re enjoying our quirky, lovable pup named Callie who brings a lot of joy and growth into our lives. Plus, I love cooking, and absolutely love to love people through a good meal!
For me, I’m truly blessed to love and invest in people for a living.
For over 25 years I worked in large global advertising firms as a Creative Director – and dragon slayer. I started my journey on Madison Avenue in New York City riding subways and working on brand development for AMEX, Bristol-Myers, Revlon, Mercedes-Benz, and Proctor & Gamble.
I’m living the ultimate “repurpose driven life.” King David spent his early years as a hunter only to have his skills with a slingshot repurposed later. That’s me.

Ten years in, I took a detour to Silicon Valley going from edible chips to the other kind – running an agency for IBM, Hitachi, and Intel, and later running the creative org at PayPal.
Along the way I learned a little about strategic planning, building cross-functional teams, communication plans, and goal alignment. All useful tools repurposed in the hands of our Savior.
Oh, something personal? I’m an honorary Italian after being married to my lovely Italian wife for 40 years. My four gorgeous daughters have encouraged me to dye my hair every color but black – and I have. I’ve never been a fan of small mammals. I’ll eat anything called a taco. And I still love Julie Andrews – so what!
Just ask. When it comes to back office info I know what makes things tick around here. After 14 years of multitasking, I keep people posted on finances, HR, IT, and other things from A-Z. If it helps us to stay on track—I’m there.

But beyond a perfect balance sheet—my focus is on people. In my past life here at Abundant Life I was a leader for a lively group of Middle School youth. Today, I’m working with women to help them discover purpose, hope, love, faith, wisdom, and prayer to become more like Christ.
After hours, I continue managing with a busy family of six. My husband Daren oversees the facilities at Abundant Life, my son Steve and his wife Faith lead and teach the Generational Ministries, Nick plays congas on the Worship Team, and Kiani is Missions Coordinator for the on-campus preschool.
As far as a family passion goes, it’s all about Disneyland! I’ve got all the stats—just ask.
As the Abundant Life’s Office Administrator, I am privileged to support the body by making sure that everything runs smoothly from the front office – and behind the scenes. In addition to working in the office, I serve as ALAG’s World Missions Director- communicating with, and providing support for, our regular U.S. and overseas supports.

I came to Abundant Life, then called DeAnza Bible Church, in 1989 where I met my husband in a college-aged Bible study. Three kids and several decades later, we continue to serve at Abundant Life where we have found a church home and a family.
When not at the church, you’re likely to find me with a textbook and highlighter as I continue my collegiate pursuit of a Bachelor of Arts in Intercultural Studies. When I do manage to get away, it’s often for a weekend escape to the mountains or a quick trip to visit our adult kids in the Pacific Northwest or Southern California.
I’m currently the Director for Village Little Preschool located on the church campus. I’ve had a long-time love for childcare as a Sr. Program Director at the YMCA in the Silicon Valley for nearly 20 years.
I’m currently the Director for Village Little Preschool located on the church campus. I’ve had a long-time love for childcare as a Sr. Program Director at the YMCA in the Silicon Valley for nearly 20 years. By God’s grace, overseeing nine childcare centers has prepared me to bring my best to a Christ-centered environment at Village Little.
Since 1994, my wife and I have been rooted into Abundant Life, and along the way we’ve grown and now have our own three children. My wife, Becki is not only the world’s best mom, she’s also a teacher for the Cupertino Unified School District. For us, caring for kids was just meant to be.
Visit the Village Little Preschool Website for more information.
I know the phrase, “cleanliness is next to Godliness” isn’t found hidden anywhere in the Scriptures, but when it comes to maintenance, I’m into spotless facilities and manicured landscapes. After doing my ministry for over 14+ years, Godly pride starts to take over. I love my work.

Pride in my work pales in comparison to pride for my family. I have three grown children serving at Abundant Life. Even my wife of 29 years, Julie, works as an Administrative Support Director here. Now that’s Abundant “Guillickson” Life!
As the head of Everyday Mission I am responsible for providing oversight and support to our small group ministry (Groups-InCommon) and our generations ministries (Children, Middle School, Youth, Young Adult, and Seniors), as well as adult education (Everyday Discipleship).
As the head of Everyday Mission I am responsible for providing oversight and support to our small group ministry (Groups-InCommon) and our generations ministries (Children, Middle School, Youth, Young Adult, and Seniors), as well as adult education (Everyday Discipleship). These are all vital components of what goes on here at Abundant Life between the Sundays. The power of our ministry is what God does with us between those times when we meet formally. We believe in the impact on families when children and youth are engaged in teaching and activates that allow them to meet the real Jesus.
I have been involved in Men’s Ministry and small groups for over 35 years. I know the effect smaller settings can have on forming deeper relationships and spiritual growth.
My wife, Sherry, and I have been attending Abundant Life since 2001. We raised our daughters here. This is home and family for us.
Outside the church, Sherry and I own an architectural firm. She is an commercial interior designer and I am an architect. We have projects throughout California.
For fun as a family we like to camp. My personal passions are fishing and fishing.
I grew up in Southern California and moved to San Jose in 2009. In 2010, I started attending Abundant Life Church where I met my husband Steven. I’ve served in many areas at ALAG, from teaching at the preschool to serving in children’s ministry and now serving the youth alongside my husband. I recently became the generations admin and truly enjoy serving and loving people.

I’ve had the privilege of teaching dance for 6 years at Just B Dance studio in Campbell. I direct our Christian dance program, Grace Dance Academy. It’s not just a job to me, but a ministry. What a wonderful thing, to do what I love and share a passion that God has given me with young people!
My husband and I were blessed last year with our son, Hunter. He is a joy and the light of our lives! I love being a mommy to him and watching him grow.
Brianna came to Abundant Life in December 2021 looking for a new beginning and to volunteer and make a difference. So, she jumped in to serve our children’s ministry department and joined the worship team. In the past, she’s always felt a passion for kids and wanted more experience with them.

So, she jumped in to serve our children’s ministry department and joined the worship team. In the past, she’s always felt a passion for kids and wanted more experience with them. She’s worked as a teacher’s aide for Legacy Christian School in San Jose, and today she holds the position of Children’s Ministry Admin using her skills and talents to help us grow. When Brianna’s away from the office, she’s focused on finishing her bachelor’s degree at San Jose State University in 2025.
For fun, she spends time with family and her canine friend Addie. And for Brianna, fun includes doing Adult Christian Coloring and painting her nails with Color Street nail polish strips!
My wife, Amy and I walked into Abundant Life in the fall of 2008 with our two-month old princess, Christine, and it didn't take too long for us to figure out that this was where God was sending us. Thankfully, a couple years after we arrived, we were blessed with our prince, Onose, and we couldn't think of a better place to be raising these two beauties.

As Local Outreach Director, I lead a dynamic team of passionate brothers and sisters. We are working together with our leadership to direct how our congregation takes the love of Christ into Cupertino, San Jose and the surrounding cities. Jesus said to make disciples, feed the hungry, invite the stranger, take care of the sick, clothe those who need it, and more. Our outreach efforts reflect these commands, and I couldn't think of a better group of people with whom I'd rather be carrying out our Lord's mandate.
Outside the Church, I run a Wealth Management practice. Next to The Lord, my family is my life. One of my pastimes? On Saturday nights I take my family out for dinner and a movie. We live in San Jose with my lovely mother, who moved in with us from Nigeria in December 2013.
